Levy, MD\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Levy is the Parker B. Francis Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital and the Chair of the Department of Medicine. Bruce received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital. He was a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Serhan.\u00a0 Research undertaken in the Levy laboratory focuses on the roles of endogenous counter-regulatory mediators in the lung. The lab\u2019s mission is \u201cto identify novel pathways and cellular targets that promote resolution of pulmonary inflammation or injury and to determine roles for naturally-derived, specialized <\/b><span class=\"\">Betsy completed her MD, Internal Medicine Residency, and Chief Residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. She is currently a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellow in the Brigham and Women\u2019s\/Harvard Fellowship Program. Betsy joined the Levy Lab in 2023, and her research investigates the role of club cell secretory protein 16 (CC16) in resolution of lung injury. Betsy\u2019s ultimate goal is to identify therapeutic targets that can lead to improvements in outcomes for patients with ARDS. In June 2017 she joined Levy Lab for a postdoctoral fellowship. Her interest is to extend the knowledge about the connection of the immune system with the specialized pro-resolving mediators pathways in different lung diseases subsets. She is currently working on the <i>in vivo<\/i> and <i>in vitro<\/i> roles and mechanisms for phospholipid phosphatase 6 regulation of specific cell functions on macrophages and dendritic cells. She completed her pediatrics residency at Boston Children\u2019s Hospital in 2012 and her pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at Boston Children\u2019s Hospital in 2015. She joined the Levy lab in 2014. During her PhD and postdoctoral work, she has been involved in studies that explore this connection along multiple dimensions. She is particularly interested in understanding mechanisms behind regulatory T cells dysfunctional during chronic inflammation. She is currently dissecting the cellular interactions between innate lymphoid cells and regulatory T cells in the setting of <span class=\"Data_0020Field_002011pt_002dSingle__Char\">Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)<\/span>. Her PhD work focused on sex differences in vascular inflammation in atherosclerosis, particularly as it relates to hormone signaling in endothelial cells. She is now a resident in Pediatrics at Boston Children&#8217;s Hospital in a research track. She joined Dr. Levy&#8217;s lab in the summer of 2022, studying sex differences in various models of lung inflammation including influenza infection and asthma. Prior to that she received her BSc from the American University of Beirut in Biology and her MSc in Molecular Pharmacology and Structural Biology from Thomas Jefferson University studying inhibitors of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) in Drosophila models. Julie has been working in the academic field as a science writer and editor, with expertise in grant writing and project management.
